Designed by Greg Norman, this 18-hole, par-72 championship course stretches to more than 7,000 yards and moves through tropical forest, mangroves, lagoons and coastal terrain.
One of the things that makes El Camaleón so unusual is the variety of scenery during a single round. Golfers encounter everything from dense tropical vegetation to cenotes and holes beside the Caribbean Sea.

Gran Coyote Golf
Gran Coyote, formerly known as Grand Coral, is located in Playa del Carmen in the heart of the Riviera Maya.
The Nick Price-designed course is an 18-hole, par-71 layout surrounded by native vegetation and tropical scenery.
Gran Coyote is an especially convenient option for visitors staying around Playa del Carmen.

Hard Rock Riviera Maya
Hard Rock Riviera Maya is another excellent Playa del Carmen-area golf course.
This Robert von Hagge-designed course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout stretching to more than 7,100 yards from the back tees.
The course works through tropical vegetation and provides a challenging test for golfers who want more than a simple resort layout.

Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club
Iberostar Playa Paraiso is a P.B. Dye-designed championship course located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
The course features significant elevation changes, deep bunkering and the distinctive visual style associated with Dye-designed golf courses.
Its location makes it particularly convenient for visitors staying at the large resorts along the Riviera Maya between Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

Moon Palace Golf Club
Moon Palace Golf Club sits between Cancun and the Riviera Maya and is especially convenient for visitors arriving through Cancun.
The Jack Nicklaus Signature facility offers 27 holes divided into three nine-hole layouts — Jungle, Lakes and Dunes.
This gives golfers several possible 18-hole combinations.

The 18-hole, par-72 course is especially convenient for visitors staying around Akumal, Tulum and the southern Riviera Maya.
If your hotel is south of Playa del Carmen, playing PGA Riviera Maya can also save considerable travel time compared with driving back toward Cancun.

Vidanta Riviera Maya offers something very different.
This is an 18-hole executive par-54 course consisting entirely of par-3 holes.
That makes Vidanta an excellent choice if you want to play golf without using most of your vacation day.
It can also work well for couples, families, newer golfers or serious players looking for a relaxed additional round.
Best for: Shorter golf days, couples, families and golfers wanting an extra vacation round.
Staying in Cancun? The Riviera Maya Is Closer Than You Think
Many visitors think of Cancun and the Riviera Maya as completely separate destinations.
For golfers, it's better to think of them as one larger golf region.
Drive south from Cancun and you'll quickly reach the resort corridor leading toward Playa del Carmen, Mayakoba and eventually Tulum.
For example, Gran Coyote is located in Playa del Carmen, approximately 65 kilometers south of Cancun.
